The Two Jars June 01
My
husband has asked me to write a monthly “shmoozing” page for our
website. I have decided that,
from time to time, I will be sharing articles or information that I come
across. I am also blessed to
have the opportunity to share my heart and some of my own thoughts on
different subjects or events. Feel
free to contact me and send me some of your thoughts and ideas!
I
remember reading about two jars. One
was filled with apple cider vinegar and the other was filled with clover
honey. As they were sitting
side by side on the shelf, they both looked identical.
When they were tipped over, it was evident that the contents were
very different! This was
compared to a test of character, or the way a person reacts under the
pressure of a difficult situation. Usually,
people behave in a socially acceptable manner.
They give the impression that everything is under control and that
they are under control. When
they are caught off guard, or unexpectedly upset, the truth may be
revealed. Sometimes, what is
deep inside will spill out when we are tested.
Being under pressure can reveal our inner self.
I
work very hard to try to respond to circumstances (go with the flow-like
the honey), as opposed to react to circumstances (become smelly and
caustic-like vinegar). The
stronger I am in Messiah, the sweeter my response.
As I step away from the guidance of the Ruach HaKodesh or try on my
own, my reaction can “stink” up the entire situation.
What a challenge it is to seek after more of the sweet, but how
much more satisfying!
Shari
