Bereishit
Genesis
1:1-6:8
ISAIAH
42:5-43:10
John 1:1-5
Once again we begin in the big-inning, where G-d invented the game
of baseball. I know, bad joke HA!HA!
Anyhow, we once again start at the beginning, or rather,
continuing, to learn about our origins. In this Parasha we once again
learn that G-d is the only thing that is real. G-d is forever. We are just
flesh walking on this planet. We are either walking with Him, or hiding
and running from Him.
G-d is self sufficient, yet He is involved in the affairs of man.
From Adam to Noah, G-d has a unique relationship, and He wants to continue
it with us, the decedents of the first man, Adam. In the beginning G-d
created man in His image (Gen. 1:27).
As we read on, we learn that the Torah is not just a history book,
but a book that teaches us to walk upright and trust G-d with all our
hearts, strength, and soul.
The Torah teaches us that ancient mankind has left us examples to
follow and to avoid. Hebrews
4:11 and 1 Corinthians 10:6 tell us not to
follow examples of disobedience. Not to harden our hearts. Genesis 6:8
tells us that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. In the beginning
we read how water was important in giving life to the world. We read in
Revelations 22:1 that there is a river of life flowing from the thrown G-d
and of the Lamb, yielding fruit and trees that provide healing for the
nations. No more curse, but life coming from the light of the world.
Messiah has given us life from the dead and we have found favor with G-d.
