Come to Jerusalem with Offerings

Haftorah: Anyone who is thirsty, come to the water.

We begin with the words, “See, I place before you today a blessing and a curse…”  The blessings come when they obey GOD’s commandments.  The word for obey is tishm’u , which is to hear or listen.

We are also told to build a Temple, not just anywhere, but in the place that GOD shall choose.  We know that Jerusalem is the place where GOD set up His place of worship for the Children of Israel.  GOD used David, His servant, to establish the Temple as a place where it would unite all the tribes.  Jerusalem was on the border of Judah and Benjamin.  Saul was a Benjamite, and most people followed him and his descendents (2 Samuel 2:8-11).  After the death of Ishbosheth, son of Saul, and that of Abner, the general who supported Saul, David became king of all Israel (2 Samuel 5:1-10).

Because Israel disobeyed GOD, they were sent into exile, twice.  Israel is now back in the Land (Ezekiel 36-37) where eventually GOD will put His spirit in them.  He will bring revival and the Temple will once again remain among them forever.  The nations will know that the Lord has set Israel apart for Himself, to be holy.

We, who trust GOD and His word, need to pray and support the right of the Jewish state, Israel.  They have been given the Land.  Joel 3:1-2 confirms, “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.”

At this time, many liberal churches have removed all funds that previously have gone to Israel.  Some Christian organizations and businesses that support the Arab Palestinians to have a state of their own have chosen to withdraw their products and support from Israel.  GOD says we have a call to support His people, the work He is doing to bring about the restoration of His Kingdom, and setting up the throne of Yeshua, as the King on Mt. Zion, the city of the Great King.
