The festival of Shavuot ( “Weeks”) (Hebrew: שבועות) is a Jewish holiday occurring on the sixth day of the Hebrew month of Sivan (late May or early June). The holiday marks two dimensions: an ancient agricultural festival celebrating the wheat harvest in the Land of Israel, and, according to rabbinic tradition, the anniversary of G‑d giving the Torah to the entire Israelite nation assembled at Mount Sinai. It is one of the Shalosh Regalim, the three Biblical pilgrimage festivals, and marks the conclusion of the Counting of the Omer.
